Night Guards
Do you wake up with a sore jaw, or notice that your teeth are wearing, and your bite is uneven? Have you cracked molars without realizing it? You are probably clenching or grinding—also known as bruxism—and could benefit from an occlusal guard. Frequently referred to as a night guard, an occlusal guard is a removable appliance that fits over your upper or lower teeth that is usually worn at night. We offer both soft and hard night guards, and recommend them to all patients who grind, as well as those who have expensive implants and veneers to protect them from failing.
Sports Guards
If you play a contact sport or participate in activities where a fall could ruin your smile, you need the protection of a sports guard. Nothing ruins a good game like losing your front teeth! Custom guards are relatively inexpensive and thousands less than major restorative work. While sports guards can be purchased over the counter for as little as $20, an improper fit does not protect your smile as well as a custom guard. A bad fit can also lead to things like a sore jaw, increased saliva, and trouble getting the mouth guard in and out. We will do a scan or impression at the office and you’ll have your guard in less than 2 weeks. Play ball!
Snoring and Sleep Apnea Devices
Obstructive Sleep Apnea affects one out of 13 people. In addition to preventing a restful night’s sleep, it can adversely affect a person’s overall health, including; high blood pressure, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The treatment of choice for most patients are CPAP machines of various designs. However,
for most people, being tethered to a hose and mask all night is less than ideal. By using a specially designed night guard/oral appliance, Dr. Boudreau can free you of pumps and hoses to allow you a
more comfortable night of rest. Unlike many other dental offices, Dr. Boudreau can measure your
ideal jaw position with equipment that can find a jaw posture that provides you the most comfortable position for maximum effect. In addition, you will be sent home with a home monitor after treatment
has begun to ensure the best results.
